Abstract Book

SKA (Square Kilometer Array) is a next-generation radio telescope
based on an international collaboration. It will allow us to probe the
Universe at a level of sensitivity and completeness orders of magnitude
beyond what has previously been achieved, targeting science ranging
from cosmology to extraterrestrial life.

In Japan, we organized Japan SKA consortium in 2008 and, since then,
possible Japanese contributions to both science and engineering of
SKA have been discussed intensively. Our aim is to bring people together
from different communities (science, engineering and industry) and
discuss how Japan consortium can contribute to SKA. We will reserve
significant time for free discussion each day so that people can fully
understand each other.

SKA（Square Kilometer Array）は次世代大型電波望遠鏡の国際的プロジェクト
で高感度、広視野、広帯域、高分解能の観測によって生命の起源から宇宙の
始まりまで様々な謎に対する発見が期待されています。

日本では２００８年にSKAコンソーシアムを結成し、SKAへの参入検討のキック
オフとしてSKA Workshop 2008 を開催しました。以来、日本として独自の貢献
ができるようなサイエンスと技術開発のコンビネーションが盛んに議論されて
きました。また国際的SKAネットワークの中での情報収集・意見交換も進んで
きています。そのような中、これまで日本で進められてきた広帯域受信
システムの開発はSKAの中でもキーとなる重要な項目であり、日本の強み
として活かせるのではないかという可能性が認識されつつあります。
そこで本年度は具体的に「センチ波広帯域観測で明らかにする宇宙」という
テーマでワークショップを開催します。
